Models of porous media made using microfabrication techniques (glass or PDMS) are used to study biphasic flows.
We observe a transition from capillary fingering to viscous flow when increasing the flow rate.
Examples of image sequences taken during the invasion. Top : Capillary fingering at small capillary numbers. Bottom : stable front at high capillary numbers.
This transition could be accounted using pore network model simulations.
